CLEAN FORT CAMPAIGN GETS OFF THE BLOCKS IN 2022
Clean Fort campaign launched by the Galle Heritage Foundation started this year on 18th January with a shramadana (voluntary service) conducted by Development Officers attached to the 50 grama niladari areas coming under the Galle Four Gravets Divisional Secretariat.
At the beginning of the campaign, the participants were addressed by the Chairman of the Galle Heritage Foundation Mr. Parakrama Dahanayake and the Divisional Secretary Galle Four Gravets Ms. Hmali Ratnaweera.
The shramadana which began at 8.30 am and ended at 12.00 noon, covered the entire fortification of Galle with its 14 bastions.
The GHF believes that this first shramdana would also contribute towards maintaining harmonious relations among state institutions apart from its main objective of keeping Galle Fort clean and tidy.
The GHF intends to hold at least one shramadana during each month this year.
