TREE PLANTING AND SHRAMADANA TO MARK THE 74TH INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATIONS

Staff-members of the Galle Heritage Foundation together with a group of students and members of the academic staff of All Saints’ College, Galle, participated in a Shramadana and tree-planting campaign at the Sudharmalaya ground in Galle Fort on 3rd February 2022 (day preceding the Independence day) to mark the 74th anniversary of Independence of Sri Lanka.
The varieties of plants which were planted were mostly endemic species such as domba, mee and mudilla and para mara, which is a special tree which was widely planted on the sides of streets in Sri Lanka including the streets in Galle Fort during British rule
